Have you ever wanted to design and make your very own piece of silver jewellery?
Maybe you have an idea of something you would like and need expert assistance to create it. Perhaps you would like to learn a new skill and meet like-minded people. This is the experience you've been waiting for. At the end of the session, you will have created a unique handcrafted piece that you can keep or gift to a loved one.
Who is it for? This workshop is suitable for beginners, no previous experience is necessary. It is for adults and older teenagers ( age 16+, accompanied by an adult). All tools and metal will be provided.
When is it? The workshop runs from 10 am to 3 pm on Sunday, January 28th.
Where? It will be held in Siobhán Jordan’s art studio in Ballinkillen, Co Carlow. Ballinkillen is 30 minutes from Carlow and 30 minutes from Kilkenny. The beautiful gardens will be a source of inspiration, I will share with you how I use nature to inspire my jewellery work. We will use the natural textures and patterns in the garden plants and trees when designing and creating your jewellery pieces.
What will I learn? You will learn the basics of goldsmithing.
How to pierce silver.
How to shape it.
How to texture it.
How to apply a final finish, polished, textured or a combination of both.
Mary will demonstrate more advanced techniques including soldering and will do any soldering required.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be on hand throughout the day, and a light lunch of soup and homemade brown bread will be provided.
Your unique piece will be presented in a jewellery gift box wrapped with a bow, All pendants will have a chain so they are ready to wear.

Terms and conditions
An allowance for 10g of sterling silver is included in the price, if you need more silver you can purchase it on the day. (10g is plenty to make a good size ring, or earrings or a pendant.)
If you use glasses for close-up work please bring them.
Please wear shoes or boots, no sandals or open-toed footwear.
Please dress for the weather and bring a raincoat and waterproof footwear for walking through the gardens.
For your safety when working, all rings should be removed and long hair tied back. No scarves or dangly neckwear allowed when working.
Cancellation and Rescheduling
To cancel a booking, you must inform me by email at mary@deburcadesign.ie
Your cancellation must be confirmed as received by me on or before the relevant dates, as set out below. All cancellations are subject to an administrative fee of 10% of the cost of the workshop.
If your written request is received more than 21 days before the event is due to begin, you will be entitled to a full refund of the amount paid, less the 10% administrative fee.
If your written request is received within 21 days before the event, you will not be entitled to a refund for your place.
If you fail to attend a course, event or class, no refund will be given.
If a workshop is cancelled or postponed for reasons for which I am responsible, I will make every reasonable effort to reschedule the class to suit the majority of attendees. If this is not feasible you will receive a full refund.
Please note that all workshops require a minimum number of attendees. If too few bookings are received, workshops may be rescheduled.
